U.S. Freestyle Snowboarding Championships in Stratton, Vermont

Virtually a “Who’s Who” of competitive snowboarding. Over 500 world champions, Olympic medalists, and talented amateurs come together to compete for a piece of the purse. The Burke Mountain Sled Dog Dash in East Burke, Vermont

The Burke Mountain Sled Dog Dash is a family oriented event for pet enthusiasts. Come see some of the World’s most competitive sprint racing teams compete against each other in the spectacular setting of the Green Mountains. Hot food will be served at the race site, children’s games and activities will be provided, scenic trail viewing areas with high-peak and Willoughby Gap backdrops will be accessible by snowshoes, and spectator’s children will have the opportunity to participate in the 1-dog event (a helmet is required).

The race is also held in conjunction with the Wafer Family Foundation’s Annual Benefit Dinner and Chinese Auction to raise money for local children. February Vacation Fun at Billings Farm and Museum in Woodstock, Vermont

Billings Farm & Museum, gateway to Vermont’s rural heritage, will offer its annual February school vacation week programs that will feature a hands-on experience of the farm during winter.

A Day at the Farm, designed for children ages 8 to 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Children can help feed the Jersey herd, visit the calf nursery and sheep barn, bake cookies in the farmhouse woodstove, churn butter, sled with jack jumpers, and climb aboard the horse-drawn sleigh for a ride around the fields. NEW! Farm Vet for a Day, designed for children ages 10 to 15, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wear your mud boots and come prepared to get dirty while working along side a large animal veterinarian. Learn the anatomy and physiology of ruminant (cows and sheep) and non-ruminant (horses) animals. Participate in grooming and feeding, and a physical exam of one of the farm animals. Program Fee: $25 for Farm & Museum members; $30/non-members.

All programs require warm, comfortable clothing for indoor and outdoor activities, a bag lunch, (milk is provided) and an appetite for farm work–and fun!
