Bristol will host a series of special events to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the founding of Bristol,Vermont. The celebration will commence with Pocock Rocks on June 16th and culminate with the well-known Bristol Independence Day festivities on July 4th. These two celebrations will book-end a series of events to mark the long history of the town known as The Gateway to the Green Mountains.

List of Events:

June 16th: Pocock Rocks – Bristol was first called Pocock in honor of Admiral George Pocock, commander of the British Fleet. This open-air celebration remembers the beginning of the town and will include guided tours of Bristol historical sites.

June 23rd: 250th Anniversary Dance – A dance will be held at The Legion and will include live music from the band Resonance.

June 27th: This evening will begin with a dinner on The Green with music by the Bristol Band, and will culminate with the burying of Bristol’s time capsule.

June 29th & 30th: Join the fun at Holley Hall for a satirical look at Bristol’s history. Parts of this production were first seen as part of the bicentennial celebration.

July 4th: This is always the highlight of Bristol’s year, with many area towns joining us in the commemoration of Independence Day. In celebration of Bristol’s 250th birthday, the parade will include floats around this theme.
