Bromley is celebrating the grand opening of the Kare Andersen Telemark Center. At 94 Kare Andersen has been on skis over 85 years: ski jumping in his native country Norway, cross country skiing to school, and relearning here in the USA. From the little town of Kilburn Norway to Londonderry Vt, he has promoted the joys of telemark skiing. Kare has been the telemark director since 1990 and still teaches a few classes. The ceremony begins at 3:00pm in the Telemark Center.

There are a lot of things to do during winter time in Vermont. Today’s featuring FUN is snowmobiling! Riding a snowmobile along the many hundreds of miles of trails here in the Okemo Valley is one of the great pleasures of winter in Vermont. All over the valley, private and public trails are well maintained by the many local clubs for the enjoyment of residents and non-residents.

Before you start, the state of Vermont requires a few actions:

1. Your sled must be registered and you must have proof of the registration
2. You must have proof of personal injury and liability insurance.
3. You must join a local club.
4. You must display a 2008-2009 Trails Maintenance Assessment(TMA) decal which allows you to snowmobile on signed and groomed VAST trails. Ninety percent of the cost goes to maintain and improve the trails. Failure to display a TMA while riding on VAST trails is considered to be trespassing.
5. You should obtain 2008-2009 VAST trail map which contains GPS coordinates.
