18th Annual Family Halloween at Billings Farm and Museum

Date: Sunday, October 30, 2011
Time: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Cost: $12.00 Adults age 16-61, Children 15 and under in costume have FREE admission
There will be horse-drawn wagon rides, cranking pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin carving, doughnuts-on-a-string, “not-so-scary” Halloween stories, pumpkin games, and animal programs.
Costume parades at 12:00 & 2:00 pm, will be led by one of the Billings Farm’s friendly Southdown ewes and all children will receive a ribbon.
Admission to A Family Halloween includes all programs and activities, plus the working dairy farm, farm life exhibits, and farm house.

11th Annual Harpoon Octoberfest

26th Annual Harvest Weekend at Billings Farm & Museum

Date: Saturday, October 8, 2011 – Sunday October 9, 2011

Cost: Adults are $12.00; 62 and over are $11.00; children 5-15 are $6.00; 3-4 are $3.00; under 3 are free.
The Billings Farm & Museum, gateway to Vermont’s rural heritage, will host the 26th Annual Harvest Weekend. Harvest Weekend features a husking bee and barn dance each day plus a variety of 19th century harvest activities and programs for the entire family.
Each day a traditional husking bee will begin at noon, followed by a barn dance from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Lend a hand pressing cider, preserving apples, threshing grain, and making butter and ice cream. Harvesting the heirloom vegetable garden will be nearing completion and children can help dig potatoes and other root crops and see how the crops are “put up” for the winter.
Other activities include: shelling beans, fence building, apples-on-a-string, and 19th century games. Hot-spiced cider and homemade doughnuts will be on hand for all! Admission includes all programs and activities.

The 29th Annual Vermont Apple Festival and Craft Show – Springfield, Vermont

The 29th Annual Vermont Apple Festival & Craft Show will be coming up Columbus Day Weekend, October 8 2011 FROM 9 AM – 5PM at Riverside Middle School in Springfield, Vermont. It’s a fall tradition and was honored as a 2007 Top Ten Fall Event in the state by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce! There’s the annual Apple Pie contest! There will be two categories for Best Pies, Traditional & Non-Traditional. Pies need to be in by 10:30 am on Saturday and the contest will take place at Noon!
The Vermont Apple Festival & Craft Show is a celebration of the fall harvest, with over 50 crafters, live entertainment, agriculture and activities for the whole family, and, of course, Apples!

2nd Annual Mini Cooper Rally Through the Okemo Valley

Date: 9/10 & 9/11/11

Location: Rally Begins at The Fletcher Farm School fields, Route 103, Ludlow, VT
Description: Come tour the Okemo Valley in your Mini Cooper! Or just come and watch them race around. A banquet and awards ceremony will follow the rally. Sunday is the back seat drivers competition (NOT TO BE MISSED!) and a display of cars will take place on Sunday also.

SATURDAY:
This will be an untimed fun rally looking for answers to clues with a scavenger hunt component. Mostly paved roads with a few good dirt roads included. The rally enthusiasts will assemble in Belmont, VT at around 8:30 am for a continental breakfast. Belmont is in the town of Mount Holly of Route 103. The rally finishes at the Outback Pizza in Ludlow covering about 80 miles. Prizes will be awarded starting at 4pm. Outback will be happy to serve you dinner!
SUNDAY:
On Sunday we will have a back seat driver competition at the Jackson Gore area of Okemo. This will start at 10 am. Don’t miss out on all of the fun!!!

The 33rd Annual Fireman’s Auction and Tag Sale in Ludlow, Vermont
