Junior Farm Vet for a Day in Woodstock, Vermont
Junior Farm Vet for a Day in Woodstock, Vermont
Billings Farm & Museum, gateway to Vermont’s rural heritage, will offer the popular hands-on program: Junior Farm Vet for a Day, three times this summer: Wednesday, June 27, July 18, and August 8, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Designed for ages 10 – 15, the day-long program will introduce students to the physiology and basic care of large farm animals. Participants should wear barn clothes and be prepared to get dirty while working alongside a large animal veterinarian in the Billings livestock barns. They will study the anatomy and physiology of ruminants (cows and sheep) and non-ruminants (horses), help groom them, and participate in a physical exam of one of the animals. The program fee is $65 for Farm & Museum members and $75 for non-members, which includes a stethoscope and workbook to take home. The program has limited enrollment and advance registration is required.
